Ukraine has been independent from Soviet rule for only about as long as I’ve been alive. It is a nation recovering from years of “the way it was”. But the people here rival the landscape in beauty. They are strong and resilient, full of kindness and hospitality in the face of poverty and hardship.
These are the people and sights I have come to love. On a stroll down the street or on a trip into town.
This is Ukraine in my eyes.
Home Sweet Home
Literally every house has a little bench in front of it merely for the purpose of the babushke
sitting and watching the comings and goings of the village.
Abbie and the famous frog boots

Sophie
Some of the sweet kids on a food drop.
The Construction Site

This girl is a drilling Queen.
I enjoyed this job a little too much.
Alicia and I with our Ukrainian counterparts- Kola and Andrei. Kola once told us (through Russian and charades) that it didn’t matter if we messed up on the paneling because one day, all of this will pass away. So all that matters is Jesus and giving him our heart. Love them!
