For those of you who may be confused, allow me to elaborate.
On April 3, U-Squad reconvened in Darwin, Australia for a huge family reunion. In World Race culture, there are squads (we roll 41 people deep), teams (6-7 people), team leaders (one per team), and squad leaders (previous Racers who take care of just about everything for our squad). Squad leaders go home after month four, so the month before they go, they raise up new people to lead the squad. This then changes the teams around.
Team Wrecking Ball had been family since training camp in October and especially over the past three months, we worked really hard at community with each other. So naturally we were a little nervous about the thought of change. But we also viewed this is a great opportunity to take what we learned and practice applying it to any relationship. So without further adieu…
Our new squad leaders are Courtney Buckner, Jake Morris, and Chelsea Hughes J
And my new team is…

Brittani Dunlap
Sarah Knapp
Carrie Hokanson
Alicia Jones
Jessie Kyarsgaard
I could not be more excited about these women of God and the unique opportunity I have to grow with them! We decided on the name .APEX for so many reasons. In our walk with God, we are always working toward a higher aim. We are striving constantly and never becoming complacent with where we are. When you want to “peak” a mountain, you don’t climb until you’re tired and then turn around. You go until you reach the top. So if heaven is the apex, we will be working and striving for that goal until we reach it.
We also really liked the symbolism of a mountain. Toward the highest part where it’s too cold for life and the ground is rough, there are still these tender, beautiful flowers that exist, defying the conditions. And lastly, we want to be known for faith that moves mountains.
We joked that we should come up with some really cheesy, girl power name. When we presented our team name to the squad, we said it was “Esther-gen” before we told them our real name. We have since adopted this as our nickname (or subtitle if you will).
The very first day we went out as a team, we saw this sign and claimed it as our motto. This is what we want this year: bigger dreams, bigger compassion, bigger love, bigger community, bigger sacrifice, bigger hunger for God.
Will you join us in the pursuit?
