The last 3 summers I have worked at Super Summer in Kansas. If you don’t know, Super Summer is a Church camp for students going into 7th grade all the way up to high school graduates. While I was working at Super Summer as a collegiate staff God was constantly changing and molding me into the person He wanted me to be and I let Him. However, what I didn’t know is that God was starting to prepare for something that I hadn’t even considered.
The past couple weeks I have sweated a lot, constantly been hot and smelly, taken cold showers just to cool down and climbed 5 flights up stairs multiple times a day just to get to our apartment. However, I have also been building relationships with junior high and high school students, letting the Holy Spirit lead the conversations, doing a lot of prayer walking and reminding myself each day that even though I’m tired sometimes, I need to keep going.
If it hadn’t been for the past 3 summers working at Super Summer I would not be okay with being out in the hot sun and sweating all the time, I wouldn’t know how to go about building relationships with students and I wouldn’t know how to keep going even if I was extremely exhausted. I also wouldn’t know prayer walking in the aspect of praying on sight within sight and I don’t know if I could have handled living with 6 other girls if it hadn’t been for Super Summer. God has been preparing me for The Race the past 3 years and I didn’t even know it!
