Ephesians 4  New Living Translation

1Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

What does it mean to live a life worthy of your calling? How do you even know what your calling is? Sometimes it feels like we’re in a period of life where we don’t know what the next step is, and the voice of God has become just a whisper, if that. The past few months that is how I was feeling, like I was walking through a desert and I didn’t know what direction my life was going to go. I graduated college and the next logical step was to start looking for a career. A career? I just turned 24 and I feel like I haven’t even experienced life the way it was meant to be experienced. I wanted to travel and the desire in my heart had only grown stronger once I finished college.

I continued to wrestle with what my “calling” was in life but then one day at church it hit me. You can’t sit back and expect God to show up in a burning bush without pursuing any action. That’s how I feel about asking people for help raising funds, it’s not my favorite thing and it’s hard to ask people for help sometimes. What I’ve learned over the last couple weeks writing my support letters and starting to send them out is that it’s not about me and asking for money for myself, but it’s about finding people to support me in my efforts to further the Kingdom of Heaven. That weekend I was sitting in church, the pastor said this powerful quote and it stuck, he said “there is no room for God’s power if we think we are powerful on our own”. There’s a sucker punch to the gut, even though I don’t think I am more powerful than God, by me not trusting in His faithfulness to provide I put Him in a box and limit the power I think He has.

Wise people have come around me to speak truth into my life about how important it is to include people in my fundraising efforts. It will be hard work and it will be a journey, but I believe in the end it will be so, so worth it. If you want to be a part of my journey, please let me know, subscribe to my blog and consider supporting me. Even if it’s a little, the impact will be everlasting.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 New Living Translation

11So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.
