Things you should know to prepare for going on the WR
-you will get rained on
– you will freeze and be hotter than heck in the same day 
– you will cry
– you will laugh until you cry
– you will experience community like you've never understood it to be before
– you WILL encounter The Lord in a way you never have
– you will be vulnerable
– you will be humbled and broken
– you will miss your family and friends but its more than worth it
– you will experience and see poverty in a deeper sense than you ever have
– you will get bitten by bugs
– you need a hammock- it's awesome to have Jesus time and naps in
– you need a camera- u will never have an experience like this again
– journal… You will forget things that you will want to remember later
– don't go to bed just Bc you are exhausted… Stay up with your teammates… It's totally worth the relationship and memories made
– children and people will steal your heart
– you will be tired but embrace it Bc ministry is awesome, humbling and rewarding no matter how tired you are
– you will take bucket showers or not shower at all for days
– you will ride hours upon hours on buses or even hitch hike in random trucks to get to where you need to go
– feedback will happen daily; it'll pull things out of you that you never noticed in yourself
– your team will be your family
– you will dance in the rain
– you will be chased by dogs on your runs
– don't bring a ton of clothes.. You won't wear them
– bring a headlamp.. You aren't too cool for it and will use it almost daily
– I would say an iPod is a must or at least some type of music
– bring socks!! At some point you will want them
– you totally don't need everything you think you do! I'm have everything I need in a school backpack.. It's possible!!
– take time to write and process
– stay in contact with your family.. they  deserve it and those relationships are important
– treat every place you stay as your own home and respect the contacts.. They are huge blessings and blessing you by staying wherever it may be
– be still long enough to allow The Lord to speak to you and show you things
– ALWAYS be in prayer
– bring your bible.. Kinda a duh! 
– be ready to dance, have free style Fridays, and anything else random or crazy
– make videos with your team and squad.. Great way to show people what's going on and to have for later
– if The Lord puts something on your heart to speak- speak it… Your words matter
– if someone is on your nerves.. Give them grace and love them where they are.. The Lord has you on the team you are on for great purpose! 
– let your pride be broken
– if The Lord is trying to take you back to a painful place in your life.. Allow Him to take you there so He can bring healing
– have an open mind
– don't put God in a box
– nothing will ever be on time… Be flexible!!!!!!
– peanut butter will be the most popular item the entire race and totally worth the$20 you have to spend on it
– your squad leaders are there to lead you and guide you.. Pursue them.. The Lord specifically put them with you for great purpose
–  your team leaders are human too.. Submit to their authority.. Don't hold them to expectations of perfection.. They are in this race too and The Lord has them on a walk and journey just as you…
– walk in your gifts
– pursue The Lord this year.. Don't worry about relationships with a significant other.. This is your time with The Lord.. Precious time you may never have the chance to experience again.. If The Lord has called you to this race he isn't going to call you to a relationship that goes against the commitment of no relationship.. Besides what's better than fervently seeking and pursuing no one but The Lord for an entire year.. LIFE CHANGING
– regardless of your title wether it be squad leader team leader or just a racer; you are a leader so walk in that and be confident. We can all grow and learn from each other
– you are worthy
– you are called
– learn at least a few words in the language of some of the places you are going even if its just hello, prayer, and The Lord loves you.. When you can speak even just one word it's brings joy to people
– be joyful in the good and bad.. There are blessing in the bad situations too
– you will wash laundry in a sink, shower and bucket
– brushing your teeth outside your tent with a water bottle will be an almost every day occurrence
– you sometimes will sleep 4 people in a 2 man tent.. Sometimes you gotta do what cha gotta do to stay warm
– bring a mosquito net… Totally necessary.. You may only use it a few times but the few times you need it you will be forever grateful you had it
– don't go out and buy new and expensive things.. Pointless for sure
– your clothes and shoes will get ruined
– have people from home write you letters and cards to being with you.. It's awesome to have them with you as reminders of the love and prayer from back home
– you will eat food that you have no idea what it is
– you will like things you would have never touched with a 10ft pole before WR
– you will at some point be a parent, preacher, teacher, brother, sister, leader, construction worker,
-Beans are a magically fruit
-u can use pretty much anything for a soccer ball
– sharing is caring might even be a toothbrush
-it's possible to fit two people in a mummy sleeping bag
-combination locks for everything keeps you safe
-you talk about anything and everything on the race. Pooping and upset stomachs are constant FUN conversation
-you throw your toilet paper in the trash can and flush with a bucket of water
-learn how to ninja into your hammock it not only looks cool but its useful
– at some point you will trip and fall.. It's hysterical embrace it and laugh
– workout.. It's good for you.. Your body is a temple to The Lord
– if you can't climb a tree.. Learn.. It's totally worth it.. Climbing trees in every country.. It has to happen
– go to the highest point of whatever country you are in and take pictures watch the sun rise and set
– intentionally spend time with people you wouldn't usually spend time with.. Everyone's story is beautiful and unique and its awesome to learn about your brothers and sisters in Christ and where they were and where The Lord has brought them to
– you will eat enough rice and beans to do you a lifetime- SERIOUSLY
– your carb intake it ridiculous but glorious.. You will crave protein like crazy- embrace it.. You aren't going to starve! You will survive!
-you will share everything you bring
– learn to play guitar
– take every opportunity you have
– let go and have a little fun… Don't be intimidated… You are created in the image of The Lord and you have the ability to do anything anyone else is doing
-be adventurous.. You will regret it if you aren't
– prefer others over yourself
– be patient
– don't hoard food… You aren't going to starve!!
– seriously you don't need that many clothes.. Girls.. One outfit for church two workout outfits and a pair of pants… That's all I have and it's more than enough. 
– you can buy toiletries anywhere on your trip do not overpack with them!
– get an air porter! And make sure it has two straps.. If it only had one you will hate your life on travel days
-get rain covers for your pack and daypack… It WILL get rained on
– you will be fine with 1 pair of flip flops and 1 pair of tennis shoes
– if you don't have chacos don't go buy them- they aren't as wonderful as everyone says.. I bought some and have only worn them twice.. Flip flops are the best and you will wear them pretty much everyday.. Yea you will wear them everyday
– girls you will want at least one cute outfit for days off
– makeup.. It's over rated but if you wear it bring it.. You will want it
– I brought  hair dryer and straightener.. Not worth it.. Takes up too much space, weight and you won't use it…
– pillow and sleeping mat.. Don't go cheap on these.. Especially the sleeping mats… This is your bed for a year… Make it comfy… 
– towel.. Everyone has a quick dry.. I on the other hand hate them and brought a real towel and haven't regretted it at all.. Very thankful for it
– you won't have warm showers- EVER
– watch out for lice.. It's highly possible to get
– jewelry… You don't need it but if you have a few favorites bring them.. Nothing special or valuable Bc it'll probably get broken or lost
– bring a bowl and spork you will use it
– bring a pullover or comfy jacket.. You will be ever so grateful that you did
– you don't need anything spiffy that you don't usually use at home.. This is you living for the next year of your life.. Bring what you are comfortable in.. This is different to everyone
– this is your race.. don't try to be like everyone else and do what everyone else is doing.. Be comfortable in who you are and follow what The Lord is calling you to do Bc what he's calling you to do will prob look different from what he's calling someone else to do
– even if you are super dark you will get sun burned
– if you have glasses.. BRING THEM.. I never wore mine at home but you will wear them in the race a lot over contacts
– you def need one pair of longer shorts to your knees but usually Nike shorts are fine to wear as long as they aren't cut on the sides
– tank tips are fine to wear in a lot of countries
– rainbow flip flops are the best!
– if you have vibrams bring them- they are light and can serve as your tennis shoes, running shoes, work shoes, shower shoes and whatever else you want them to be for
– bring a one strap purse or backpack.. You will use it everyday
– get a watch.. Cheap ones from wal Mart are the best!!
– be present in the time you have left at home.. You have an entire year with your team.. Your time at home is very important
– don't fret when all of your things won't fit in your pack or under weight.. Take stuff out.. You don't need it anyway.. Anything you might need you can get but let's be honest.. You don't need very much to survive
– people say pack snacks.. Don't.. Get the most out of the experience 
– bring pictures of your family and friends to keep in your bible.. They will mean a ton to you on the race
– bring a headphone splitter.. You will use it for team movies or bus rides
– you will not have personal space so embrace it and learn to love it
– the world race will change you, mold you into a much deeper warrior in The Lord, teach you to live in community, and prepare you for absolutely any situation of life while breaking you down and building you up in The Lord and allowing you to be the hands and feet of Christ
– the WR WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER
– EMBRACE THE CAHNGE EMBARK ON THE JOURNEY AND BE READY FOR A COMPLETE LIFE CHANGE
