Guatemala week one-

This first week here has been amazing. The Lord has already done some crazy awesome things! The first couple of days we got settled and in the swing of a routine. My team of 7 will be working here on a construction site this month. 993319_10151789373181807_1842587173_n.jpgWe are knocking down concrete walls so that the foundation can be built back solid. We are building this church from the ground up.  We have been able to experience so many things in just this first week of ministry. I was able to be blessed with praying over a little boy named Fransisco  and his mom outside of the hospital as he was being put into the ambulance. It’s been such a blessing just being here able to experience their culture and show them the love of Jesus. Walking down the streets and seeing the hurt beyond the smiles on peoples faces and the loneliness deep in their eyes breaks my heart.  I ask the Lord daily to break my heart for what breaks His and that’s exactly what he is doing.  Being here able to minister to the poor, broken and lost absolutely blesses me beyond anything else I could be doing. There’s no place I’d rather be than right here in the middle of what God is doing here in Guatemala. It amazes me that the Lord would choose someone like me that is so undeserving to do His work. He has called me and I will follow wherever He leads.  The Lord has called us to be love, show love, to serve, and to spread the gospel.  We are able to do all of those things here and it’s an amazing blessing to just be able to sit and watch God unfold His mighty greatness through each of our team members.

Things to know –  never turn your head with food in your hand- you will get bitten by a dog

You can’t put a team of 14 in the back of a tiny truck on an off-road trail- you will get stuck1069187_747926322822_984029868_n.jpg When knocking down walls in Guatemala watch for bees- its very likely you will get stung

Always carry your raincoat bc it will rain at some point

When your tired and want to go to bed- stay up bc it’s totally worth investing in teammates and making memories.

Embrace the sound of fireworks- you will hear them all day errr day

When you’d rather take a shower bc you haven’t showered in two days rather than playing ultimate with a bunch of random people- play; it builds relationships and helps keep you in shape.

Have quiet time every day and be really engaged in it- being in the word and prayer is very effective and powerful.

Do everything as if you are doing it for the Lord- things turn out way better if you are giving 110% 100% of the time.

Let people love you where you are- no one is perfect.

Be a servant but also let others serve you

Make time to talk with family back home- they deserve it and its important to keep them involved in what’s going on in your life

Never take a single moment for granted bc the minute you just lost you can never get back

When the Lord is trying to teach you it’s okay to be weak- don’t fight him on it just embrace it and accept it- its much easier in the long run

Be vulnerable with your team- its okay to not be okay

You are here for a purpose- so embrace every situation, experience, and opportunity to serve with everything you have
