Raking and burning before the storm…
Strange right?!?
Well not really when you look at it from the point of our spiritual lives..
Do you have stuff that needs to be raked and cleaned out, things that need to be burned?
We all have things in our daily lives that we can work on or improve but what are the things in life that you really need to rake out and burn before a big storm comes?
This morning as I was at my grandparents helping clean up the yard before the storm, it hit me…. Our spiritual life can so relate to raking and burning before a storm.
We all will go through trials and storms at some point in life. Don’t you want to be prepared and on guard for when the enemy throws a storm your way?
Just like this morning we were raking up all the garbage and dead plants to burn them before the storm came… We all have dead areas in our lives and garbage that needs to be raked out and burned.
When the storm hits and the waters rise its way less messy when we have everything prepared.
Is your heart prepared? How’s your relationship with God? How’s your prayer life?
Are you really on guard? Are you protecting your heart? Do you really have a deep intimate relationship with Jesus or is it just surface level? Is your prayer life deep and intimate or do you truly just pray every once in a while before you eat or go to bed or when things go bad?
These are some serious things to think about!! Your relationship with Jesus should be so much deeper than surface level. Do you really know Him for who He truly is or do you just know about Him? Do you really know and receive the deepness of His love for you or do you just know in your head that He loves you. We can know something in our head all day every day and never receive it. Have you truly received the Father’s love?
HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH!! Nothing can separate you from the Father’s love.
He wants what’s best for you! He cares for you! He wants you to be prepared when storms of life hit.
Are you really doing your part to be prepared?
I think its time for a lot of us to start raking and burning things of our lives that don’t belong there! How about anger, shame, guilt, un-forgiveness, hatred, deceitfulness, and so much more… Rake that stuff out of your heart, burn it, and send it back to the pits of hell where it came from!!!!
Ephesians 4:31- Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
Satan totally loves when we keep those things in our heart and allow them to control our lives. Its time to clean house, take back what the enemy has stolen from you and send him to the bottom pits of hell to find a nice toasty seat and get comfortable while he’s at it because He has no power over you! The Holy Spirit is living in you (if you are a believer) and Satan has no power over you. He only has as much power as you give him.
So with that being said, search your heart, rake and burn all that crap and when the next storm of life sweeps through you will be prepared to withstand the winds and rising waters, firm in Jesus.
1 John 1:5-10
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
