You know that wise old saying ‘It takes a village to raise someone’? Well, it is so true. In fact, I would almost like to bet you your favorite caffeinated drink, that you were raised by a village. Me, my village was my neighborhood, my church family, my friends and their families. Over time as I grew up, my friends may have changed into different friends and families but they were always part of village, people I could go and talk to about things, share my life with.
Now that I am embarking on this adventure, it seems as though my village is a lot larger than I remembered it ever being. I am remembering people whom I regarded to as close acquaintances asking me how I am doing and seeing if they can help. But that is what is amazing. God is bringing us all together!
This upcoming weekend, Saturday October 4th, a lady at my church offered to let me use her front yard and have a garage sale while she sells some of her goods and I sell some of mine as well as other donated items. I’ll be having a bake sale and selling as many bracelets as I can make from now until then.
Though it often gets really hard to concentrate on both fundraising and preparing myself as well as school work, I know that God has a plan for me on the Race. It’s sometimes easier said than done, sometimes my to-do lists are a lot longer than I wish them to be, and I don’t get it all done. But here’s what awesome with all this, God gave me friends and family. I can ask them to help. That’s how I’ll get to where He is calling me. This applies both now and when I’m on the field. If I try and do everything myself, I’ll burn out faster than a candle with no wick. If instead I ask my friends and family to help with the things that I know I cannot do (like make posters, all the bracelets, cook, a video, etc) things that they are WAY more talented at than me, we can get this done, and done well.
So this Saturday, thanks to my amazing village, I will be having a fundraising garage sale! If you’re in the Fishers area, stop on by! If not, prayers are appreciated!
Also, remember, Keep Calm and Fundraise On : )
