Im in Nepal for the 5th month of the race. Namaste!
I what to share about what is going on here in our ATL/Unung Heroes month, everything about my NEW TEAM “Fearless Love” and my new route and all the changes after our Debrief!! Yes, I know… A lot of stuff is going on right!
When we got to Katmandu at the beginning of the month we stayed all together as a squad in a Hostel located in the touristic area of the city called Thamel, people from all over the world, restaurants with all kind of food and shops all over the place, a really cool place!
We stayed there for a week. Squad Coaches and our squad Mentor Carly Brown visited and stayed with us, they had a couple surprises for us that week, first it was the new route of countries, we are no longer going to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda… Here is the new list: Swaziland, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and China! I love the change but these countries are going to be quite a challenge to me to get in because for most of them Latin-American people we need visas and in my experience getting VISAS overseas is Hard!
The second surprise of the Week was the announcement of the new Squad Leaders: Jeff, Amanda and Jill. Im so excited for them. The third one was the announcement of new Team Leaders and the new teams! Its like a weird and bittersweet moment when you are excited about new adventures with new people but you know that you’re going to miss your old team, after being together for 4 month as part of team “Sojourner” it was time to start a new adventure in a completely different team that we decided to call “Fearless Love”.
At the end of debrief the new teams departed to their ministry location, all of them except for my team, they told us that our month was going to be different, our ministry for the month it was going to be “ATL/UH”, “Ask the Lord” and “Unsung Heroes” month which it means that we had no ministry contact and we needed to find our own ministry opportunities letting God lead the way of where to go and what to do and also trying to find “Unsung Heroes” people that to amazing things for the Kingdom of God without the recognition of the world.
On our first day as a team we spent time in prayer, also researching about places and people all over Nepal to go and serve with them for the Month. So we found this city called Pokhara, second largest city in Nepal were there is a lot of ministry opportunities and organizations doing amazing things and at the moment there wasn’t any other team from the race in that place, so we prayed about it and we felt that God was calling us to go to this place, so, on day two we left Katmandu and after a seven hours bus drive we got to Pokhara! This is what we found… This beautiful creation of God.
Our mission for this month is to find new contacts, If you know about organizations, missionaries or churches in Nepal let me know! So far we have found a couple of people here in Pokhara, Nepal one of them is the “Nayagaun Church”; which is the true definition of an Unsung Hero! Amazing people doing amazing things for Gods Kingdom. Great and kind people, incredible impact in their community, youth and kids ministry, connected to other christian organizations and a great Outreach Ministry focused in villages in the mountains. Here is the Church!
So, how did we find them? On the first day here in Pokhara I found the Church while I was studying the map of the city (thanks google maps!) so I decided to walk to visit them and two of my teammates decided to come with me. We walked for an hour and a half before we finally got to the church, we got there without notice but everyone was so friendly and Kind with us. We talk for a while about what we were doing there and how we ended up in Pokhara and we asked them if there was any way for us to serve them for a couple weeks. They said yes! And in our next meeting the Main Pastor gave us a complete schedule for a week that included: house visiting, spending one afternoon in an orphanage, long walks in the mountains, village ministry with a service where we had to preach, sing songs, performed skits and share our testimonies. Exactly what we were looking for! God is so good.
And this is how our month is going!
I’ll bring more news at the end of the month!
Much Love, Guille!
