Squad Leading: Support Need: $6,500
(12% COMPLETE)
No influence has been more significant than my father’s. He has passionately discipled young men as long as I have known him. My heart is that I can invest in others as he has. I’ve been able to personally witness the transformative power of coming along someone and helping them realize their potential. I’ve seen young men from broken families mature to excel and thrive as a result of my father supporting them.. Squad leading is my chance to initiate the next generation of World Racers and awaken them to their role and identity in God’s kingdom.
Who inspired you to become who you are today? Was it a family member, friend, or a cultural icon? We are essentially the culmination of those who have influenced us for better or worse. Who is in your life that you have the ability to give life to but aren’t currently being intentional about doing so?
Center for Global Action (CGA): Support Need: $3,950
(100% COMPLETE) as of 12/1/2014!!!
The Word Race was a year of ridding myself of ungodly beliefs about myself and the life I am called to live. By physically abandoning the comforts of home I was able to invite God to speak into my life. New found freedom is powerful but needs direction and application.
At the CGA, I have been challenged emotionally, spiritually, and relationally to understand my leadership potential. I collaborated with a team of alumni racers to develop manuals of best practices for sharing the gospel and children’s ministry. As a cohort we also compiled a training curriculum to aid squad leaders in equipping team leaders. These resources are important tools to standardize expectations and resources to make Racers effective and competent ministers of the gospel.
World Race Review:
Support Goal Met!: $15,500
I went to change the world and the world changed me
The World Race was a year of taking God out of the box. My life aspirations have been challenged by how God is moving around the world.
Central America:
In Guatemala, my team helped prepare land for an addition to a Christian school that educated the orphans we got to love on throughout the month. In Nicaragua, my team and I spread the gospel in communities plagued by a harmful pesticide, causing terminal illness. We conducted a Vacation Bible School with the children in the community, close to a dozen accepted Christ. In Panamá, my team networked with 5 new potential ministry partners for Adventures.
Asia:
Thai schools are predominantly Buddhist. My team had the opportunity to share the gospel at school Christmas parties. In Cambodia, we taught english to young men in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. In India, we lived life alongside Christian seminary students. We supported locals in the renovation of a local church and a Christian hospital. In Nepal, we prepared an orphanage for the arrival of children. We polished and installed window panes, painted, and installed a shelter for bicycles.
Africa:
Swaziland was made memorable by the children. Hearing the stories of the broken childhoods of the youngsters at El Shaddai was heartbreaking and sobering. In Botswana my team facilitated mens and womens bible study, and prayed for community members during home visits. We sought out community members to encourage and challenge to take up spiritual leadership in the community. South Africa was distinguished by teaching english, and conducting a VBS for amazing students, many afflicted with fetal alcohol syndrome.
