So as I have explained a little
bit already, I am living in a small fishing community here on the island of
Phuket in Thailand and my team and I have been partnered with an American couple
who have been here for the last 3 years or so. The husband is a pastor at the church here and does a radio program a
couple times a week. When he isn’t doing
all that he usually does a lot of “yard work” in the community such as cutting
weeds and mowing grass and spraying weeds along the side of the road, in fact
many people in the community know him as the “weed cutting pastor”. His wife teaches English at a few schools and
runs a childrens program on Saturday afternoon with the kids in the local
community.
All
that to just help explain that most mornings, I have been helping pastor Dana
with the yard work 2 weeks ago, him and Cindy, his wife had to leave for the
week to renew their visas. So in the mean
time, Paul and myself get to work weeding this central park that looks more
like a forest than anything else because its so over grown with weeds and brush
and what not. Well we thought that if we
could do something nice for the community like clean up the park so they could
actually use it as a park, they would find that enjoyable. So we took to work and no joke, just about
every day or so we were out there, we had someone in the community stop us and
ask us if we wanted some cold water or sodas or we even had some lady bring us
some freshly cut, cold pineapples, which were just delicious after having worked long hours in the hot sun.
(ps. I took this picture with my ipod and couldn’t figure out how to turn the picture right side up for the webpage, so thats why its sideways)
Its crazy, the generosity of the people
here. I was and am blown away, and it occurred
to me that God was using them to bless us because of the work we were doing to
bless them. God uses Christians and non Christians
(mainly Buddhists in our case) to bless His own, that belong to His flock. It was my prayer, that every single person
that stopped to help us would be richly blessed by the Creator for taking care
of His flock. It was a very rewarding
and awesome experience to be a part of.
