Finally arrived in Malaysia!  I say finally because the amount of time it took to get across the border was almost comical.  From bus drivers just kicking us off, to the border being closed and more, we finally have arrived at our ministry contact in Malaysia!  While all this was going on all I could think was, “Well dang, God must have something really good on the other side if it is this difficult to just get in!”  I then found out that our ministry site was in the most fundamental Islamic state in all of Malaysia, add to that the unrest that has been caused due to some online video, my excitement for what God was going to show me shot through the roof!

So, with just one day of ministry I can already say I am in love with our ministry contacts, who are husband and wife.  (They said we can blog about anything, but just in case I am not going to include their names.)  While here we are teaching English, Science, Literature, Math, the Bible, music, sports, and any other topics to their children during the day, and at night children and adults from all over the city come in to learn English from us.  We are not allowed to mention anything about the Gospel.  We can’t even say words like “Amen” and “Hallelujah” because even that could cause some trouble.  But let me tell you, the spirit of God is oh so beautiful, present, and powerful here!

Our ministry contacts are so madly in love with God, I can feel it by merely being around them.  They were told by God to come here and start this English program in order to bring the love and light of Jesus Christ.  They have told us one beautiful testimony after another with how God is bringing light to this city (physically and spiritually).  Parents of children will come up to our contacts and ask them, “What is this place?”  And since our contacts can’t even mention the gospel or anything about it they simply respond, “We teach English here” only to have the parents respond with, “No.  This place is different, it is more than an English institution, there is something special here that I have never seen or experienced.  What is it?!”  Well let me tell you, that’s the presence of the Holy Spirit admitting itself as a fragrance out of a true son and daughter of God.

Do you understand how beautiful this is!  God is doing crazy works here and because we can’t mention a single thing about God then we must fully rely on God to do everything, everything that is done must be accredited back to God.  We must truly believe scripture when it says in 2 Corinthians that our mere presence will bring light, that our mere presence defeats the enemy, that our mere presence and a willingness to love is all God needs to bring the gospel.  And man oh man; the gospel of Jesus Christ is so present in this place, a place where the world would say it is impossible for the gospel to reach people.  Guess what, my Abba loves to do the impossible.
