Today we visited a river where the girls searched for clam-like creatures. Just for funzies.
While there, these two little boys just ran over to where we were and immediately clung to Marisa.
Vottey invited them to the Trail To Life Camp that Sending Hope Cambodia will be hosting next week & they excitedly expressed that they knew we were Christians. Shortly after, Vottey & the girls were praying with them to accept Jesus.
(The way ministry comes natural to them astounds and encourages our team!)
When we went to find the stand where their mother was selling fruit, they both grew very quiet. They wanted to go to camp but they were afraid that they might be beaten if their alcoholic father found out that they wanted to come.
It’s stories like these that make me wonder what I’m doing to help these situations, or if I can even do anything at all. However, it is not by our strength or the work of human hands that things change.
Tonight, as I prayed for the protection of these boys and their mother, I realized that their protection isn’t the only thing they need. Like the women on Bangla Road, they don’t just need protection; we need a world of changed hearts. The men who see women as a product on a shelf – for sale but returnable after use; the alcoholic who beats his children; I’m praying for their hearts tonight.
I don’t know these boys’ names (later found out that their names are Vanna & Veasna) but I know that they are seen and known by Jesus tonight and for always. He is now their Lord & Savior and His angels’ hedge of protection is covering them.
