Meet my team!!!
First, let’s get you caught up on some World Race lingo.
I am a part of a squad, K squad to be exact. My squad is comprised of about 55 individuals from all over the US (and Canada – heyyy Stefani!). My squad will be traveling in between countries together and debriefing together at various points throughout the year.
Here is my squad:
I am also a part of a team, team Magnetic Light to be exact. My team is comprised of 6 individuals, 3 gals and 3 guys. My team will be breaking off from the squad in each country to go to our own ministry site where we will connect with the local pastor/missionary/church for the month. You tracking with me?
Here’s my team:

Now, why Magnetic Light, you ask? Well let me tell you.
Thursday afternoon, we fiiinally received our team assignments for the first part of the year. We then left camp to go make a “team memory” together before coming back for evening worship & a session.
We left and headed over to Lake Lanier to go swimming. We swam, shared testimonies, had a great time. While hanging out on the beach, an older man walked over with his dog. We began chatting with him and found out he was a Christian. We told him about what we’re doing this year and at the end of our conversation, he asked to pray for us on the beach. Um, of course. It was awesome as we all held hands on the beach and this complete stranger prayed over us for the year ahead.
Then, we headed over to Recess, a phenomenal restaurant in Gainesville. At dinner, we were chatting with our hostess and again shared a little bit about who we are and what we’re doing. Moments later, she comes out with her prayer journal, passes it around the table and asks us to write our names down so that she can be praying for us next year. Um, duh. She snaps a photo of us and on the way out also prays over us right outside the restaurant. Pretty cool.
There is something magnetic about this group – drawing people in to what God’s doing in and through us. Our testimonies revealed a common thread of light and darkness; Jesus calling us out of a life of darkness into His marvelous light. Therefore we landed on our team name: Magnetic Light.
This year, please be praying that people would be drawn in to the magnetic love and light of Jesus Christ as displayed through us. We hope this team name embodies what we’re about and Who we’re about.
Team Magnetic Light!
