My favorite movie of all time would have to be Schindler’s List. For those of you who may not know, Oskar Schindler was a German man who saved the lives of countless Jewish men and women from concentration camps. In the last scene of the film, Oskar Schindler’s assistant hands him a gift from himself and all of the Jews that Schindler saved. It was an engraved ring, and on the inside was a quote from the Talmud “Whoever saves one life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world.”
Just think about that quote. Think about where you are in your life right now. Yes, you’re there based on your own choices, good and bad, but also think about the good influences you’ve had. Do you think those were on accident?
We were all called to something important, and whether that means we’re going across the country, whether we are a nurse, a waitress, a janitor, a CEO, a mechanic, or whatever our profession may be, we are called to do everything in love.
Our actions speak volumes and if we are living by those actions, we are able to make a bigger difference than we can even see.
I know that I am continuously seeing it day after day. I see it in the people who are excited to pray for and donate to this cause. I see it in parents encouraging their child to dream big and to not limit themselves, and to continuously be supportive. I see it in strangers at a retail store intentionally being kind to the person behind the counter, regardless of how the employee is acting. I see it in the employee being kind to the customer who is not kind. They don’t do this because they’re weak, they do this because they know that their kindness goes farther than a one-time encounter. I see it in people who spend hours volunteering to their Church because they know it makes a difference, and to those who give because they know their giving heart doesn’t stop at one person. I see it in a teenager who hangs out with a kid who everyone else makes fun of, regardless of the ridicule they receive for it. I see it in every kind word, every kind action, and every listener.
You guys are all heroes and you’re changing the world one person at a time, and if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be as driven to want to change the world and see more people like you. Thank you for loving like Jesus does.
