Thoughts on Fundraising

This packing up and leaving the country business is starting to get pretty real. It seems more and more of a reality every time I hand a card to someone and explain to them what the race is about. Now, time to be honest. Fundraising was my number one hindrance to wanting to go on the World Race. It’s humbling to be sure… but my biggest concern was (and still is) that people would think that I valued their money more than I valued them. Each time someone supports me I feel an overwhelming rush of gratefulness. I know that some of the gifts I have received have been a result of great sacrifice and I am so humbled by the gift! It is my sincere hope and desire that each person is able to see themselves as a traveler with me.You are riding on the crowded bus, walking with me through the dusty streets, smelling the myriad of smells, and feeling the anticipation of adventure. Without you, this would not be possible, nor would it be any fun. If you’re reading this, you have most likely given me something. Love, encouragement, money, supplies- whatever it is, know that I am so thankful for you! I value your friendship, and I am very excited to travel this journey with you.
