The following is a random assortment of facts about my trip. I wrote it while sitting on a 24 hour train ride from Budapest to Kiev. Enjoy 🙂 It was definitely always an adventure, and the times we “did without” taught me so much about gratitude and how much we have in the United States when it comes to material comfort… More thoughts on this soon.

 Nights in my tent: 36
nights out of 323

Months I used my sleeping mat: 6

Months where I had a “Real Bed” for the whole month: 4-Philippines,
Uganda, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine

Days without running water: 32

Days without ANY electricity: 10 *This does not include the
days where we had a single exposed bulb as light but could not use electricity
for any personal things.

Months where generator was source of all electricity:
2-Camboda & Kenya

Months with hot running water for showers: 6.5 (New Zealand,
Australia, Philippines, 15 days in Kenya, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine)

Months without hot water: 4-Cambodia, Thailand, Tanzania and
Uganda

Months with potable (drinkable) water from the tap: 5

Months we lived without air-conditioning: ALL, except for
sleeping in Australia 2 of the 3 weeks, and two nights in a hotel in Cambodia.

Weirdest place slept: Probably the troopy in Australia. Or
maybe the Kiev train station, where the police made us move every hour and a
half until 2am.

Weirdest thing eaten: Fried grasshopper and fried silkworm,
given to me by a prostitute in the Red light District of Bangkok.

The World Race: ALWAYS AN ADVENTURE 🙂
