Lately, one of
these favorites lately includes standing on furniture to worship, to pray or to
shout declarations over myself and my team. The latter is something we picked
up at the Awakening, and it is fun. It is powerful. It is awesome to shout
truth. To have my teammates tell me what they see in me and speak it over
myself. It is incredible to be given God’s eyes to see how they have grown and
how God wants to use them in the kingdom, and to tell them these things.
To
tell her, “You are an artist. You see the world and reflect God’s creation in
your creation.”
To tell her, “You are a powerhouse
for this team and the kingdom, and God has mighty things in store for you.”
To tell her, “You are a prayer
warrior and God has huge plans for your life. He has redeemed you and released
you into GREATNESS.”
To
tell her, “God speaks to you. You have a prophetic voice and release life,
love, comfort, truth, and freedom wherever you go.”
To
tell him, “You are gifted, in so many ways. God has released you this year into
some of that greatness, into your acting, your media gifting, everything.”
To
tell her, “You are an amazing leader. To see you walk in your identity is
powerful. To watch you rock out to Jake Hamilton and declare truth over
yourself and our team is inspiring.”
My team consists
of people who have changed dramatically since I met them last October. Last
October, I don’t think you would have caught most of us yelling in worship,
standing on furniture, believing who we are in Christ, and walking in our
identity and giftings. We were too stuck in our own junk. But now, 9 months in,
we have changed. We have been remade. We know who we are, we believe who we
are, and we claim that. We claim our territory that God has given us this year.
Last October, I would
not have been willing to dance and pray in the rain as part of worship. But a
few nights ago, that is EXACTLY what we did. We were rocking out to Jake
Hamilton’s album, Marked by Heaven, which is worshipful, identity-claiming ROCK
music. (He is the one that sings The Anthem too.) It started to rain. Our
contact had asked us to pray for Casa Shalom, and our squad leader had asked us
to pray for cleansing over this place, our teams, and our hearts. So when it
started to rain, we went out and danced around. We prayed and asked for God’s
presence. We danced in the RAIN!
Then last night,
after worship, Leyna and I still had a lot of energy. Something else I have
noticed about myself lately is I love to entertain people. Not to be a
people-pleaser, but just to make them laugh. I have tapped into a lot of
God-given creativity this month, and that has been incredible. I will write another
blog about that, but for now, here’s what I love to do: dance around. We danced
in the rain on Sunday night and then on Monday night we danced in the living
room to Disney music for an hour and a half. But I don’t mean just
side-to-side, bouncing, Hitch-approved dancing. I mean, full-on theatrical dancing, complete with facial expressions, jumps
and leaps, and lots of spinning and dramatic poses (With a few hi-yeahs thrown
in for fun).
The last two
days on the race are some of the most fun I have had all year. And I know it’s
because my team and I are finally walking in the freedom God has given us. We
are free to be ourselves. We are free to rock out, to dance, to shout, to
scream, to run around in the rain, proclaiming, “I am royalty. I have destiny.
I have been set free. I’m gonna shake HISTORY. I’m gonna CHANGE the world.”
God is so good.
He redeems everything in its time. For so much of my life, I have felt
inferior, inadequate and incompetent.
But this month, God has shown me who I
am.
He has put people in my life who have
encouraged me in who I am.
He has told me I am creative.
He has told me I am chosen.
He has told me I have victory in Christ.
He has told me my identity is found in Him.
So yeah. My two
new favorite things: Standing on furniture shouting truth and dancing around in
chapels, living rooms and outdoors in the rain, praising God and having fun. Walking
in the freedom I have found. Claiming my identity and God’s truth. Worshipping
with a heart like David.
