Psalm 37…” I heard in my head. Okay, God. I know that one. It’s a good
one-committing my way to you, knowing that in the end good always wins, that
righteousness lasts forever but the wicked who currently prosper will soon
vanish. I hope I get to share that today during door to door. I’m not feeling
that great, Lord, but I am going to trust you to give me the strength to do
this.

An hour later,
after our first house, I was coughing. Not a polite, little cough cough I have
a cold, but a deep, nasty one. Guess I
should have gone with Jonathan to the doctor. I am feeling really weak, and
this cough is disgusting. Oh wait, here comes Pastor. Maybe I can go now … I
can’t breathe very well and I’m not really feeling like sharing. I feel bad
making him go again, but the motorbike only seats two…

So I went to the
doctor with Pastor Jackson and Jonathan. To resolve the motorbike problem, we
walked. Yay for healthy living. I was disappointed about not getting to share
Psalm 37 with anyone, but I hoped I would feel better the next day and then
could share. The doctor gave me some medicine, and we started to walk back
home.

On our way,
Pastor asked if we would stop by one of his member’s house. I was feeling a
little better at this point, probably just the subconscious knowing help was on
the way, so we agreed.

We met Esther
and her mother-in-law. They were beautiful and had amazing smiles. Pastor asked
if anyone had a word to encourage them and I remembered, Psalm 37. So I said, “I do.”

I shared with
Esther the highlights of this Psalm-the encouragement from following God’s path
and doing good, the knowledge that while it seems like the wicked have it going
good now, they will soon perish, and the promise that the righteous of the Lord
will inherit the earth.

She was encouraged,
repeating it back to me through the Pastor as our translator. I was encouraged.
Despite not doing what the day’s plan was, God used my visit to the doctor to
encourage Esther. God had a different plan and a different timing for me—going
to the doctor not only was a blessing for me to feel better, but also for
Esther, as we would not have visited her if we hadn’t gone that way through
town. He really did make it work together for my good, and for the good of
those who love him. It was cool to be part of the kingdom, even in this small
way.

Praise the Lord. Bwana Asifiwi.
Amen.
