We are in Ecuador! My biggest fear about Launch was making it to
the Miami airport on time, but God is good and when I got to my connection
flight in Atlanta about 5 other races from W squad where there. I felt utter relief and excitement. We made it to Quito and it has been a good
few days worshiping together as a squad, spending time with our team, and
prepping to get ready to go to our ministry sites. I do wish that I had been exposed to some
Spanish before I left besides watching Dora the Explorer with my niece. I have been saying “gracias” a lot, which is
one of the only words I feel really confident in.

In all seriousness, the Lord solidified
some things He had begun to teach me at training camp. I keep getting blown
away by the faith of my squad and their desire to know God more and their
openness to speak life into people. One
of my teammates and I had a great conversation about the things we were
learning about worship and speaking truth and life into people. Everyone is at a different place and that is
okay. The Lord wants us to pursue Him
and as we continue on this journey, I know He will reveal things in us and do
things through us that will blow us away. And I love how He uses community and the faith of our brothers and
sisters to do it.

Yesterday we were crossing the street in
Quito and one of my teammates says, “Wait, guys I feel like we need to go back
across the street and pray for that man.” I am going to be honest and say that I did not even see the man that she
saw. We were all for her going over
there to pray but she wasn’t going unless we were in it as a team. One of the guys on my team said, “Let’s go,
isn’t that what we are here for.” He’s
right, so why do we hesitate? We did go
back across the street and then realized none of us spoke Spanish. How were we going to ask him if we could pray
for him? We managed to hand signal our
question to him and he agreed and even though he couldn’t understand the words
we were saying, the Holy Spirit doesn’t need to the same language. We left that man with a huge smile on his
face and a lesson for me in listening for God’s voice, trusting our teammate’s
word, and not being afraid to step out in faith. Our team will probably have more moments like
that and I pray we will be ready to respond when they come.
