As I write this, it is Easter morning. We are packing (late night/early morning). The month has passed quickly and we leave in only a few short hours to begin our journey to Africa. (We’ll be traveling for three days – please keep us in your prayers!) Unfortunately we will be on a bus all day on Easter Sunday. The up-side – long bus ride equals time for reflection on the past seven months, coming months, all the people we’ve met in Cambodia, and on Easter. After all, this is the day that defines Christianity – and is the very reason for the Race. Christ is Risen! I’m giddy inside when I keep thinking: He’s Risen! He’s Risen! He lives!
May you have a peaceful and blessed Easter reflecting on Christ’s resurrection in your life and enjoying His presence. I’m excited to share with you in upcoming blogs about the INCREDIBLE people I’ve encountered in Cambodia. For now, here are some snapshots from English class.
Happy Easter!
Head Shoulders (knees and toes)
We quickly learned – the best way to keep the students engaged is to keep them moving! These are our 4-year-olds in pre-school that Christy and I tackled as a team.
Always eager to pose for a picture. Red uniforms usually means first – fifth grade.
Peace in Class.
Well, not always peace in class but when cameras appear it is a quick draw: snap vs. peace. Peace sign wins almost everytime.
Lunch Time: Serving Soy Sauce
Part of our time at the school was spent in the cafeteria serving lunch, soy sauce and seconds. Of course you have to take off your shoes when you go into the lunchroom. There is nothing like rice between your toes!
Recess with Rosa
In between class and lunch and during recess, we are bombarded with high-fives and thumb war. Jake and Allan usually have three or four kids crawling all over them – the kids have never seen anyone so tall (6’7 and 6’5 respectively). Most of the kids are not shy – and many were fascinated by Allan’s beard. Rosa is hardly ever without a smile and a hand ready for a high-five. Note: peace sign again quick at the draw.
