Life in India looks a lot like Haiti. For example: they eat lots of rice, the people walk to most places, they sleep on the floor if they don't own a bed, kids play outside, they take bucket showers, and wake up to the sound of roosters. There's also plenty differences. For example: In Haiti, we don't beat our clothes on the floor to wash them, we don't use squatty potties, we don't eat rice for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner etc.
The first month of the Race I was honored to really experience how 'the least of these' live in India. My first ministry was spent in two homes lead by an organization called "Covenant Children's Homes, India'. The first week was spent at the boys homes and two weeks with the girls. I would adopt them all if I could. They are so precious and great children. Their servant hearts are so big. Their ages range from 5 to 12 years old. The way the organization works is that the kids are not available for adoption, but they will stay in that home until they go to college. In turn, they can help empower their countrymen when they have a career. One day, I would like to open homes like that in Haiti.

My God is an awesome God, He placed me in just the right generation to have the priviledge to pour out in the lives of those children. Although, they are orphans, wear clothes that have holes and missing buttons that are replaced with safety pins; and shoes that are no better or they walk barefoot to school. They are the most joyful kids on the planet. The smile on their faces can melt even the heart of the grinch himself. They are satisfied with life and embrace their life circumstances. Those children are hard workers! They go to school from 8am to 6pm. When they get back home, they help around the house, do laundry if need be, take showers, help the younger ones and still do their homework. All of this with smiles on their faces and not one word of complaining. They are Christ warriors.
I wish you could hear the prayers of some of the seven year olds. One day, one of my teammates who has a bad back asked the kids to pray for him. He said the spirit he felt flowing from the kids to him was indescribable. I hunger for that life. A chidlike faith, trusting God for my every need, instead of obssesing over material things that don't satify you in the first place.

What I learned from the kids and the culture of India this month is in Romans 12:1-2. I want to live in constant wonder of God and watch what He does next. I want God to break me of my selfishness and run after the things that breaks His heart.
I will encourage you to check out the site of CCH http://www.covenantchildrenshomes.com and their page on Facebook. They need your support by spreading the word, sponsor a home, cash gift ect.
