Andy Stanley recently did a campaign called "Be Rich" where he challenged his congregation to give $500,000 toward caring for the sick, hungry, homeless, and poor in the city of Atlanta. His church community ended up giving $2,000,000!
In Luke 6:31-36, Jesus said to be generous to those who will never give back, who will never know our name or who will never know where it came from. Just as our Father has been merciful, kind, and gracious to us even when we have been ungrateful. Give to others and it will be given back to you running over. This could be translated… “Be Rich to others and You’ll be rich as well.”
“Be rich”, of course, can mean many things and is not always monetary riches. For me and my current cause, I need monetary riches so that I can share the riches of Christ on my journey during the World Race. And so I ask and challenge you, my friends, to “Be Rich” with me. To join me monetarily, so that together we can make a difference for Christ in our world and in this generation.
Here is my personal “Be Rich” campaign:
I am asking for friends to commit to giving $50 per month for 6 months. This would total to $300/person by June. If 50 people commit to $50/month, I will be fully funded for the World Race!
