Since being here in El Nido our team has had the opportunity to have two fun days where we were able to go out and explore. Last Saturday we went Island Hopping for only $15 U.S. We had an amazing tour guide named Abi who was only 17 years old, so him and his crew of 2 other men took us to 6 different islands through out the day. Being out on the boat and away from El Nido we saw many, many spectacular sights. In my mind this has to got to seriously be the most beautiful place in the world. God has truly blessed this place, a majority of the islands sit vaccant with no one living on them, nothing has been touch, everything has been left to its natural beauty. If this place were in America it would have resorts and night clubs pilled up on the beaches, but the islands around El Nido are untouched and one of God’s amazing treasures hidden in this world.
Then today me and three of my teammate rented motorcycles and rode them around the northern part of Palawan Island. The first place we tried to go was a hidden, white sand, beach that we were told no one ever went to, so we made our way down the road we were told to take. As we kept going the road became more and more narrow, until we were driving down a small dirt path in the middle of the jungle. After going a few feet further we jumped off our bikes and decided to started hiking down the hill. Quickly the trail disappeared and we were just trekking through the very thick jungle. It didn’t take long before Erin and I decided to turn back, while the boys, Ryan and Andrew, continued on. In the end we did not find the beach, but had an amazing adventure trekking through the jungle.
Back on the bikes again we headed off to find a place for lunch. Finding it took a little bit of searching since it was off the main road, but eventually we drove down a steep driveway towards the beach where we were met by a smiling woman who knew we were coming. There wasn’t really a restaurant we were just directed to go sit at this table on the beach that was under a little hut, as we were walking over their a man walked by with 6 fresh fish that he had just pulled out of the ocean and was soon to be our lunch. Sitting on the beach was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking, another one of God’s hidden treasures, but not just the sceneray but also the woman, Babes, who served us. After she cooked our meal in her home and brought it out to us, she sat and talked to us for a while, and she was just a very beautiful woman inside and out that really blessed us on this day. Then when we were leaving we were given the opportunity to come into her home with her and her family and pray over them.
I’ve only been on the World Race for about 3 weeks now, and God has already revealed so much to me, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for me during this next year.
