Dear Family and Friends,
I can’t believe that 2012 is already upon us. I hope the New Year has started off well for you! I am excited to share with you what God has been doing in my life and where He has taken me up to this point. But even more, I am eager to reveal where God is sending me in the dawning of a new season in my life. As most of you know, last February I went on my first mision trip with a medical mission’s team from my church to Haiti. It was such an amazing trip! The opportunity to pour Jesus’ love out to so many in need was a very memorable, humbling, and rewarding experience. I am in awe when I reflect on all the changes that have occurred since then, but one thing remains constant…my passion to bring aid and hope to parts of the world that rarely receive either one. God has placed mission work on my heart for quite some time now, and I am so excited to continue His desires!
God has blessed me with the opportunity to participate in a Christian mission trip called The World Race, serving alongside an organization called Adventures in Missions. The World Race is an 11 month trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. Starting in July 2012 I will embark on this incredible journey, with the purpose of serving the poorest of the poor, bringing hope to the hopeless, the peace of Christ to those who live in daily turmoil, growing in my faith and knowledge of the Lord, working closely in community with other believers, and experiencing a lifelong journey for God's kingdom. Wherever my team may be, we will be working alongside established churches and ministries in local communities to preach the gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages and homeless shelters, minister to woman and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many people and nations. Every month will look different! Depending on which country we are in, we may be giving piggy-back rides to orphans in Tanzania, inspiring gypsies in Ukraine, encouraging those suffering from HIV in Africa, teaching at local schools in Nepal, or cleaning up community centers and preaching in the red lights districts of Asia. I pray that God will use us mightily as His hands, showing kindness, compassion, and concern for His children in some of the world’s most isolated and desperate places.
I am so thrilled and thankful for this opportunity and although the World Race cost is high, I trust the Lord will provide and meet my needs. I believe one way He will do so is through the willing hearts of those able to give. Ultimately, my prayer is that He might use you to partner with me in this ministry and I would be honored if you could do so financially and prayerfully. I am specifically asking for those who will join and support me to pray for me throughout the course of my journey and to help raise my finances. My prayer is that He in return will also provide for you. I must raise $15,000 which covers the cost of my trip for the entire year and goes directly to AIM. This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. If 25 people pledge $50 a month for 12 months, I would have 100% of the funds necessary for my trip. Even if 10 people commit to only $100 for 10 months, I will already be over two thirds of the way there! This cost will cover all my meals, lodging, air and land travel, administrative costs, and training camp costs for the entire 11 months. I have chosen to share this major milestone with you because you have touched the lives of me and my family. If you feel led to give, checks can be made payable to Adventures In Missions and you can return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. Adventures in Missions is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and gifts may be tax deductible. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: georgiadewey.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed. My blog site will also keep you up to date on my whereabouts and happenings! I would appreciate any support you can give: monetary and, more importantly, prayer! I am so excited to see how God will move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year! This is such a HUGE decision and I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. My wish is to go on The World Race as a representative of Jesus for you! I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.
Joyfully in His grace,
Georgia Dewey
