Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
(James 1:9-11 ESV)
To me as I meditate on this passage I am drawn to the leveling of the playing field. Let the lowly boast and the rich be humbled. For our lives on earth are all the same we live for a short time then die just like the flowers in the field. I love the analogy James uses with the field the rich man that all things will fall away like the flowers in light of Jesus the true "son."
This passage allows me to truly dwell on what is important and it is not earthy wealth but what can only be found in the Son, and that is our eternal lives. Allow yourself the ability to really think about what is important and spend time spreading this good news to others so they are not wasting their time with things that will pass away.
