In 3 days I am leaving on a journey that will take me around the world to eleven different countries, on three different continents, in eleven months. I will see things I have never seen before, meet people I have never met before, and walk with God in a way I have never done before. I have never felt such a strange mix of excitement and absolute fear before in my life!
I say all this because I think we all need to see how often what God calls us to is way out of our comfort zones. If I told you I enjoyed being clean it would be a dramatic understatement. If I told you I love talking to large groups of people I would be lying. However, I believe God called me to The World Race to show me how even in my weakness He is still strong, and He is calling me to grow in ways I would have never thought possible.
Each day I believe we are called to make decisions to follow God, I believe it's pretty safe to say that God is usually not calling us to simply live comfortably. I am pretty good at coming up with excuses to avoid doing things that make me uncomfortable, but in 3 days I will begin a journey that I know will place me in a lot of uncomfortable situations. It is the beginning of a new season in my life where I will have to learn to trust in God's strength and not my own.
I believe that we all have the opportunity to begin new seasons in our lives. So as I step into the unknown in just a few days, I ask that you choose to do the same. In whatever you feel God leading you to, choose to follow him, even when it looks like it's going to be hard or even impossible, He has a way of providing for what he has called us to.
I hope this made some sense. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to subscribe to my blogs by clicking the link on the left side of this page.
I am still in the process of fundraising and need support to continue this journey. If you feel led to donate you can do so by clicking the "support me" tab on the left side of this page, or contact me directly by email at: [email protected] or by phone (which will soon be cut off due to me leaving the country) at: (865)-235-7634.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Garrett Hammonds
