Our second week of camp we were privileged to have many talented children come. So much so that we had a talent show at the end of the week! We had children who shared everything from dancing and songs to magic tricks and one child even showed us how to be a pirate. All of these children are extremely talented and amazing, but this one little girl, Karabo, stuck out to me with her sweet spirit and amazing words. Here are some of the poems she wrote and read to us: (I wish I could see them in her eight year old hand writing but these typed words will have to do. )

I have also included the pictures of some of the other children who stole our hearts.

Karabo and her brother

I am not too small.

You think I am too small

But I shall grow much bigger

You think I am not clever yet but I shall study and get skills

You think I am just a child but I work hard and do well.

I am only eight, but I shall get bigger and bigger.

I am proud of South Africa and South Africa will be proud of me too.

Group #9 decorating their team flag

Our Flag

When we are glad we fly our flag.

We are glad when we solve our problems.

We are glad when we win at sports.

We fly the flag when we are sad.

We are sad when the plan crashes

We are sad when there is a drought.

WE FLY THE FLAG FOR ALL OF SOUTH AFRICA.

These beautiful ladies had amazing voices – look out American Idol here they come!

This poem is by Nelson Mandela, but she read it to us one day

The Rainbow Nation

Old and young

Rich and poor

City and farms

Field and hills

Sky and sun

We work and play

We cry and grin

We win and we loose

We are the citizens of South Africa

We are the rainbow nation
