I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about me and my experience with missions, and why I am pursuing the world race.
I was fortunate enough to have been able to go to Costa Rica during the summer of 2015 with a great group of people. It is often said that mission trips will give you more than you will give to the mission. In a way, I found this to be true. Of the many lessons I learned while on that trip, the one that sticks out the most is that “stuff” is not satisfying. I ministered to people in refugee camps whose houses were made of scraps of wood and metal, yet they were some of the most joyous people I have met. When I came back to the states, I saw people who had nice cars, a great job, a big house, and they walked around with a frown on their face. Material things can get in the way of how we organize our priorities. We can become so blessed we think we can make it without God.
The most important reason I am pursuing the world race is because God has led me to step out in faith and follow Him. That being said, this process has been one that has grown my faith and relationship with Him so much. The growing process does not begin when I step onto the plane to go overseas, it began as soon as I said yes to God.
