I have a secret…I have been in prison

Training camp was full of our heavenly Dad stepping down from His throne and bringing FREEDOM in lives of those present.  Dad used me (as my last blog stated) to bring FREEDOM to some of my teammates.  But would God finally set me FREE?

There are some people that have had issues that they have just accepted as things they need to deal with.  Poor eye sight, medical conditions, or even emotional baggage.  It becomes a part of them.  We become PRISONERS to these.  Does Daddy really want to set us FREE?

What am I talking about?  Six years ago, I was diagnosed with a Pilonidal cyst.  What is that?  This next picture is meant to show you what I am talking about and is a bit graphic.  But there is a point:

My body produces a fluid that causes the cyst to form.  The cyst forms at the end of the spine and manifests itself at top of the buttcrack, generally the apex of your body when you are sitting down.  1 out of every 1000 people suffer from this.  The cyst, if  untreated, can lead in severe cases to paralysis as it draws closer to the spine.  And due to the location of the cyst, it is also very embarassing.  Oh yea, and doctors claim there is NO CURE.

So 6 years ago I had surgery to remove the cyst, but since there is NO CURE, the doctor opted to leave a wound open so that fluid my body produced would be able to escape and not cause future cysts.  For the last 6 years I’ve carried this wound not just physically, but emotionally.  Before Training Camp, I had only told 5 people about it.  Little did I know that my Dad wanted to set me FREE!

During one of the sessions, I felt God ask me “so when are you going to let me heal you?”  Really?  Did God want me to share my most embarrasing secret with 54 people I’m going to be sharing my next year with?  Did He want to get involved that Intimately with my life?  Did I have faith that He could finally set me FREE of this bondage?

With heart pounding and a crack in my voice, I stepped in faith and shared this issue with my squad, my safe place.  instead giggles and funny looks, I received open hearts and tons of love.  Really?!  I asked for prayer for healing and my whole squad layed hands on me and prayed their hearts to our Dad to come in and set me free.  My prayer consisted of the following verses:

Luke 8:43-48

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,<sup class="footnote" style="font-size: 0.65em; line-height: normal; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: top; " value="[c]”>[<sup class="footnote" style="font-size: 0.65em; line-height: normal; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: top; " value="[c]”>c<sup class="footnote" style="font-size: 0.65em; line-height: normal; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: top; " value="[c]”>] but no one could heal her. ^44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

^45 “Who touched me?� Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.�

^46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.�

^47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. ^48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.�

In my mind I was reaching out to Jesus cloak for healing.  I had the faith that Daddy could do it.

I’m amazed to say that 2 weeks after TC, my wound that had been opened for 6 years has just closed!  

What the Heck?!?!

I have not done anything differently to make it closed, instead I put my faith in my Dad and He closed it!  It brings tears of joy to my eyes that Dad has set me FREE!  I’m no longer in this prison of shame!

I share this that God may get the glory.  Many people reading this are suffering through some equally embarrasing issues that are buried in the closets of their hearts.  Readers probably know someone who is going through something similar.  I want to encourage you to let Dad come into the situation!  He wants to set the captives FREE!  Feel free to share this with others.
