Such a great question!  I'd like to think that God put a missionary spirit in my heart when I accepted Jesus.  Missions trips were things I thought only really religious people would do.  I remember in my early Christian years speaking with a missionary to Africa and hearing of all the things God was doing in His life.  I can recall thinking that this missionary was a much better Christian than I was because he was doing medical missions in Africa and I was struggling to make it to church on Sundays.  As I matured in the faith, I came to understand that the life a Christian is missional.  Whether overseas or in your own home, there is room to spread God's love and word.

My first missions trip was to New Hampshire, the most unchurched area in the United States.  My time sacrificing my needs for others revealed to me that, in this season of my life, I belong in the missions field.  Many people have missionary hearts, but with marriages, children, and other responsibilities at home, leaving for months at a time is difficult.  In this season of my life, I can follow Jesus freely all over the world, making the most of this time God has given me.
