Hey everyone! So blogging isn’t really my thing, so this is going to be an adventure in and of itself! I am super excited to have this opportunity though, and can’t want to get to know everyone and be used by the Lord in this context!
So first off, I think I will just say a little bit more about myself and how I got to be a part of this trip. My name is Evan, obviously, but I am more affectionately known as the tattooed guy with the crazy hair by lots of my friends. I love adventures, and love life. I was graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelors in Youth Ministry, and am involved with a church called Mosaic here in Lynchburg, VA. I absolutely love it, and I am glad Rick, the pastor, has been willing to give me the opportunity to lead.
I felt called to this trip about 4 months ago, when I asked God to show me a way to see Him as bigger than my own context, and use me in ways I could never imagine. One of my strong desires in life is to not be tied down by material things, and live a simple, non-American dream lifestyle. By that I mean, one motivated by Christ’s love, and not in the least bit by money. So with that prayer, and my desire, God whispered to me about the World Race. At first I thought it was a crazy thought, and it might have been a little selfish to go because I have always wanted to travel the world, and at first I saw this as an opportunity to make that dream come true. While it is kind of that, I prayed relentlessly about the trip, and God showed me He definitely wanted me to do it.
So here I am! I am beginning to get everything sorted out and preparing myself for the trip, which starts in July! While I am super excited about the trip, I have been kind of hesitant about it. My mind keep getting caught up in the details, and all the things I could do at home that would be more “wise”. I would appreciate everyone’s prayers and motivation for this trip! I am excited, but people around me to excite me would be great!
The biggest concern I have, as well as most people, is the money aspect. I need to raise $15.500 for this trip. We have different deadlines for different amounts. Here is what they are:
I need to have $3500 by the time I go to training camp in early spring.
Then, I need to have $6500 before the launch of the trip in late June.
3 months in, I need to have $11,000, and the full $15,500 by 6 months in to the trip.

-My favorite color is orange, but right now its purple.
-Part of my leadership responsibilities with the church I am with is to manage a music venue called CANVAS, which I love, and love all the people involved!!
– I love doing triathlons with my dad, even though I have yet to beat him at one. Being beat by an old man is tough on the ego!
-My mom is the most perfect, most loving mother anyone could ever have!
– I have a sister, and I wish I had her artistic skills, and a 4 year old brother, who is completely crazy and i love them both to death!
