As some of you may or may not know, I’m on a little bit of a journey right now. Yes I’m in a preparation season for my upcoming World Race, but I’m also on a literal trip. Around the United States.
A few weeks back, God prompted me to use the 5 week break in weddings I had in August-early September in a unique way. He told me to go. Funny, that’s been a little bit of a theme in my life as of late. Well, this time, it was to go and visit my squadmates in different cities across the United States. And oh boy, what a journey it has been. The Lord is teaching me so much about community in its rawest form, and He is teaching me to trust that He goes before me in every single relationship, every single interaction, and in every single place that I go. No matter how self-conscious I am, no matter how high-maintenance I can be…the God of the Universe cares enough about little old me to lay the foundations of my friendships.
Through 6 different stops across the Eastern United States, I’ve already had difficult conversations, been challenged by new friends to make steps of faith, instantly connected, laughed until my stomach hurts, prayed over pain and past wounds of others, and shared deep and meaningful parts of my story.
And I only left Austin 10 days ago.
So you may ask…why do I care about your road trip, Eva?
Because my World Race is not just about me. Ha. What a thought, right? Earth-shattering to the narcissism that can wedge its way into my day-to-day life.
MY WORLD RACE IS NOT ABOUT ME.
Of course, it’s about the Lord Almighty, my Ultimate Father, His Holy and Perfect Son Jesus, His atoning work on the cross, and His desire to see all people know Him personally.
But it’s also about my squadmates. My teammates. I am not going on this venture alone. Let’s be real. I’d be the most worthless piece of crap overseas alone. Me and my hot-mess American self.
The truth of the matter is…if I’ve learned anything on this trip…it’s that we need each other. I need my squadmates. My squadmates need me. God is already weaving our stories together, and He has made each of us with unique gifts and talents, with a purpose designed for equipping and aiding in ministry together. We absolutely 100% cannot do this without one another. It’s pointless.
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” -Romans 12:4-5
So with all of that being said…I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR Y’ALL!
To change it up a bit, I’m going to ask you to not pray about financially supporting ME, but financially supporting one of my squadmates! If you click the ‘meet my squadmates’ tab on the left, browse through, select someone, read about their story, and if you feel prompted, please give! They are all remarkable humans with incredible stories, and with SO MUCH love to share with the world.
And what’s more, I’m offering an incentive. Anyone who donates just $20 or more to any of my squadmates and sends me an email ([email protected]) with their donation information (so I have your shipping address)…will get a FREE custom calligraphy print from me!
This is just a sample! Many more can be found on my instagram @evacranford
