Yesterday I saw the new Hunger Games movie, and I think I literally got motivated by Katniss’ cause. Tonight I saw Forrest Gump, and again, I am literally filled with hope and inspiration which is honestly almost weird to say… It is hard to encapsulate and explain what these terms mean to me, but they are so spot on. Its not every other weekend that you get to watch the “Hunger Games: The Mocking Jay” out in the world while simultaneously filming a documentary/ television series, showing people real life. Katniss was fed up with tyranny from President Snow. She was willing, but in her eyes, not yet ready to be put into the position that she was asked. When she was at the hospital, she said “I cant go in there, I can’t help them”; she didn’t feel like there was anything she could do, but she went anyway. Those feelings fill me so often as I have been traveling the world, and I almost don’t want to give people false hope, but I go anyway and do what I can. Instead of letting doubt rule her, Katniss did what her heart knew was right; and because of that, people started to follow. She didn’t, and couldn’t, follow a script. No one would believe it, and rightly so; but instead, Madam President put Katniss into real life situations, and filmed her as she reacted. She didn’t know it, but she had been a leader all along, and as she was thrusted into a challenge where the cameras where rolling, the world got to see her broken; and under pressure, the choices she began to make revealed her true character. She didn’t live by a script, but instead, was authentic, and as the cameras let the people see her as she was, they began to see a reason to fight. The team documented what was was happening, showed the districts, and let them see for them selves what the true story was. She put the ball in their court but showed them that the fight was worth fighting, and allowed others to make the choice to join the war. I feel this is so similar to the journey that God has placed me in right now. Not to live a life of heroic deeds, but to go out and do what I know is right, and hopefully inspire others to come along with me as the cameras follow.   To be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ and go love on people, bringing the light! How often do you get to be called to go around the world, and show people Jesus; and in this case, like Katniss, have a professional crew to help you and broadcast it to the millions!?!? Not out of self glorification, but to hopefully ignite that spark that will catch fire. That this will hopefully light that spark, and as people see us walking through our lives fighting the darkness of this world with Jesus as our leader, that people would see Christianity in such a new, raw and real way. I hope that it will inspire others to get to know Jesus and challenge people to live out more wildly amazing stories with God as their master craftsman. That while they follow our stories, they could know that God has an absolutely incredible story for their life! That all they need to do is let God be their author, and let Him narrate their story… I guarantee It won’t be a boring one…
