Buenos días,

My time in El Salvador is slowly coming to an end with only 2 and a half weeks left! It has flown by and I just wanted to write a quick blog to update everyone on where my heart is and how I am doing.

First off – ministry update: the month of November has been full of special moments I will always cherish. The Lord has truly blessed me with a community of believers and amazing lifelong friends. Spending time with them has been one of my favorite parts of the month (working alongside each other in ministry, adventuring the mountains of Panchimalco, and even getting soaked countless times in rainstorms). With that said, our team was given a labor project in a local church across the street from our home. For about a week and a half our team has been primarily cleaning out a drainage system that has over 20 years of mud built up beneath a concrete foundation. Because it is clogged, mud and water accumulate next to the church making it a place for mosquitoes to breed. This past week we have been doing hard labor cleaning out muddy pipes, in an attempt to solve the problem. We have also been participating in Pan y Chocolate consistently every week, (wrote this blog on the way there) feeding the homeless, sharing the love of Christ, and trying to always have open and willing hearts for ministry.

As I approach my final weeks in El Salvador, my mind has been thinking about my time here and the good affect is has had on my life. The Lord has definitely taught me the most these past 3 months through the people I live with everyday. Whether it is talking about Christ on the way to ministry in the back of a pickup truck or sharing stories over a cup of coffee in the morning, their perspectives on life and God have given encouragement to my heart – never underestimate the power of a strong community! As I sit with the Lord each day and pray to Him asking for His will to be revealed, I cannot help but think that these 3 months have been a preparation for what is to come and what I will soon encounter. My heart is full of excitement when I think about the people of Africa and my time there just 2 years go. And speaking of Africa, our team has also received our ministry contacts for Malawi. Our team will be living in Lilongwe. Our primary ministry will evangelizing to the people of Malawi as well as encouraging already existing churches and even planting churches in communities that don’t have them. Very exciting news.

With all this said, I feel as if these past 3 months have been a time for growth in my understanding of God. My prayer is that the Lord will continue to awaken my heart to delight in His name and desire Him more each day.

Blessings,
Ethan
