Hey everyone! Yesterday was our last day of ministry in Ecuador. As we said prayers over Tamarita and Maria (staff at COVi) they cried and expressed how much they loved us and would miss us. We washed their feet, gave them letters we had written and a chocolate cake we had made them. We instructed them the cake was just for them and not to share it 🙂
I think the biggest lesson I learned this past month was to confront people within twenty-four hours of any offense, even if you know they didn’t intend to hurt you.
Even though we should strive to not be easily offended it’s
Some other things I have learned in Ecuador are:
- Yellow vans are not taxi’s they are school buses, don’t try to flag them down, they will take you to school
- See-saws are MOSTLY dangerous
- The best hot chocolate in the world is at Angela’s coffee shop (just around the corner from where we live).
- Don’t be surprised if someone walks up to you and sprays you with foam, this is an apparently normal thing two weeks before Feb 10 (Harvest Festival).
- Learn to love the sound of roosters waking you up in the morning.
I’m heading to Peru tonight. Internet access will be limited, but I will keep you as updated as possible.
