Wow. What a crazy day. So we had to renew our 30-day Thailand visas before September 26th. Apparently that’s a common practice on Phuket Island; they have visa-run shuttles for hire. After 4 1/2 hours of driving in a bumpy van on very windy, narrow roads, we had to jump out and get our passports stamped for departing Thailand. Then the challenge — hiring a boat & driver to take us across the water to Myanmar. Problem: The boatmen didn’t speak English. Neither did our van driver. So even as we road the 5 minutes to the dock, we weren’t sure what we were getting ourselves into. We were thinking a small ferry or speed boat or something. Once we reached the dock, you can imagine our surprise when we found… well… a pictures worth a thousand words, so here’s a video that Lauren put together of our day….
