Last night I visited Joe Slovo, a near-by squatter’s camp.  (See Challenges blog).  When we first got there, we chatted with a kind lady.  I felt a heavy spirit, so I prayed for her & the team as they spoke with her.  As we moved on, we saw a very young girl (5 years old?) attempting to carry a full bucket of water and take care of a baby.   So we helped gather water for her family.  That’s when I ran into one of ‘my boys’ from camp.  He introduced me to his friend (whom he brought today to camp) and family.  I was able to pray with them for God’s provision.  One of the boys accepted Christ this week during my group at camp!  It was cool to begin to disciple him and hear him share the Gospel with his friend.  Then I ran into 4 other camp kids and their friends / families.  They seemed happy that I was visiting them.  Please
pray with me that “God will supply all their needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”  Thank you for praying for the Lord’s blessing during our visit at Joe Slovo.  I know the Lord was glorified.

Today was amazing at camp.  This winter in South Africa is unusually cold (I apologized for “bringing the snow from MN”).
Many of the kids don’t have winter attire or finances for clothing.  A lady that some of my squad-mates met had a lot of children’s hats & gloves donated that she didn’t know how to distribute.  So we helped be her hands and feet, giving it to some of the children here at camp.  What a sweet time, to be able to give out some of the hats & gloves to my kids who had none.  Even after recreation time, when it warmed up, they still wore their hats & gloves, proud of their new clothes.  My heart cries for them to have better shoes.  Many of them either share shoes with a sybling or have very worn, half coming off shoes, way too small for the kids.  I’m praying about how God wants this need to be met.  Please
pray with me about this need and God’s discernment.

Also today we were able to repeat the gospel message using the Wordless Book approach (using colors to represent sin, Jesus’ blood, being cleansed, growth & obedience, and heaven).  By the way, about 5 or 6 of the kids in my group said that they prayed for the first time on Tuesday.  Did I tell you that already?

Praise God  with me! For some of these kids, camp is the only time that they hear about Jesus or God.  And that only happens once a year.  So we cover them with our love & Jesus’ love.  The kids showered love on me today!  Even some of the toughest boys ran and hugged me tight, saying they’d miss me.   It’s the first day I felt my overpouring of Jesus’ love being returned.  It makes the challenges worth it.  Please
pray once again that these kids will grow in Christ, understand His love, and lead their families and communities to follow Jesus.

PS- We’ve been spoiled this week with great internet access, so I wanted to keep you updated as much as I could.  I’m not sure what our next connection will be like… We leave tomorrow (Saturday) morning for another town near Jo’berg South Africa.
Pray with us for safe travels to the nearby city.  Also
pray for endurance and strength, as we will have another 2 weeks of camp ahead of us!
