Our team chose the name
Concrete. Ok, here’s the silly story behind the name. We were in the airport. It was about 8-hours into our wait (See Ready, Set, … STOP!). I was up at the ticket counter with a couple other leaders, trying to get the visas and luggage issues addressed. The rest of the June-squad was in the airport lobby, passing time. While eating Jelly Bellies, my teammates decided it would be fun to name. For one tropical JB, a girl announced the name “palm tree”… And a guy heard “concrete”… Yeah, it sounds nothing alike, and it probably sounds really silly on the other side of the computer screen. My only justification: We were tired.

As we were looking to choose a team name, some people jokingly suggested Concrete. Upon further reflection, concrete is made from a variety of materials. It’s mixed and roughed up. But the end produce is strong, resilient, serving its purpose.

Our team is like concrete—made of seven very different people with different backgrounds and giftings. We will have challenges, in ministry and in team dynamics. But in the end, the Lord will produce strong, resilient people, who He will use to serve His purpose of touching many people’s lives and bringing Him glory.
