I’ve become slightly addicted to a phenomenon known as drinking
yoghurt. Since there is no way for our food at our home to be refrigerated, we
don’t consume too many dairy products other than fresh milk which comes
straight from the cows that graze all day in the community we live in.
Naturally, this leaves me in quite a predicament because I LOVE dairy products
and miss my cold milk and yogurt in the mornings but I have discovered a coping
mechanism. Every day that we go into town I buy a 500ml bottle of drinking
yoghurt for 55 shillings which is about
$.70. Drinking Yoghurt is basically yoghurt in a carton that you can
drink with a straw. If I don’t get my yoghurt within a few hours of being in
town my teammates tell me I get a certain look in my eye that lets them know
they need to get me to the nearest supermarket to purchase some my fuel for the
day. So I have written a little poem to honor my affection for this delicious
dairy treat.
Drinking Yoghurt
You taste so fine
Without your smooth presence
I lose my mind
Drinking Yoghurt
Goes down to my tummy
The mango and strawberry flavors
Taste so yummy
Drinking Yoghurt
How will I get by?
When I’m living in Uganda
I just might die.
Drinking Yoghurt
If only America could know
Your amazing goodness
Across the world could flow
