I apologize for the delay in updating. I have been on the ground in Kenya since the day before Thanksgiving. It has been a wonderful experience so far. The people are absolutely beautiful with generous hearts and huge smiles. The scenery is breath taking. I had no idea Kenya was so green and lush! I joked with one of my teammates that you really couldn’t make this country ugly if you tried. Flowers grow everywhere. Even the ones that we try so hard to garden in America just flourish here! Roses, geraniums and countless other flowers abound.
I spent the first week and a half in Kenya in a little town about an hour outside of Nairobi called Kijabe overlooking the great Rift Valley. We were able to have our debreif week at Moffat Bible College because most of the students are home in their villages for winter break. The squad spent the week in sessions with Michael Hindes and his wife Kathy who flew in from the States to disciple and teach us. The week was so affirming and we left last Friday ready to serve Kenya with all we had.
This month, instead of traveling ahead and doing logistics, I have had the opportunity to stay with my team and minister in Eldoret which is the fourth largest city in Kenya. Our team (Hephzibah) along with two other teams, Karis and Judah, are ministering alongside Pastor William and his wife Pamellah of the Latter Glory Church. Our primary outreach is to the street children of Eldoret which includes church services and food distribution.
