Thank you so much for those of you who prayed travel mercies
over me and my squad! The Lord certainly heard your prayers and responded
because we did not encounter so much as an inconvenience on our LONG trip from
LA to Hong Kong and then Manila. We arrived on time and a little jet lagged but
none the worse for wear. I managed to get in about 10 hours of sleep on the
flight from LA to Hong Kong which came in handy when we arrived in Manila at
11am (bless my squadmate Brenda for crawling over me to use the bathroom and
for tolerating having a boring person to sit beside).
G-squad sure is starting out in style. Not only did we manage to get 50 people
through customs and safe and sound in Manila on time but we are also blessed to
have the most amazing place to stay during our first week of training for the
Race. We are staying with the Long family that runs Kids International
Ministries (www.kidsinternationalministries.org) . They are incredibly generous
to put all 50 of us up in real beds with warm showers and we have three meals a
day prepared for us. This is as nice as its going to get on the Race. Our
accommodations are not going to get any better so we’re going to love every
minute that we’re here. I just got done eating a Western themed dinner (hotdogs,
grilled chicken, baked beans, etc).
Our squad coaches Gary and Lisa Black have also flown in for the week
and have sacrificed a lot of time and energy to minister to us and teach us
before we really dig into ministry. I am so grateful to have them here to not
only prepare us but to challenge us and speak life over us at such a crucial
time.
I’ve been spending some crucial time with my team, team
Hephzibah. My teammate Laura did a wonderful job on her blog of introducing our
team and name after training camp that you can read here: http://laurameyers.theworldrace.org/?filename=hephzibah . I realize that I have
not formerly introduced them on my blog but I am confident that my readers will
come to know them well over the next eleven months. Our team time was sweet and
we are still so fresh and young together so we spent our time sharing our
testimonies and digging deeper into our experiences in the Lord in order to
better prepare ourselves for partnering together and ministering to one another
in the next year. I am so blessed to be able to share life with these women and
I am thrilled to see how God uses us to sharpen one another in the Spirit.
