“She said she has no dreams.” Those are the words that came out of our Ministry Contact’s mouth when he was helping me talk with a young girl.
At the age of 15, I can remember dreaming of many things. I remember vividly dreaming of all of the possibilities of what my life could look like. Possibilities of many different occupancies, many different places to travel or live, many different things that I can remember growing up and talking about with friends.
At the age of 15 for this particular girl, she has no dream. Reason being that where she comes from, her as well as many other people of her village do not have much experience outside of their village. They only know what they have now. They have no knowledge of anything more.
My heart sank as I heard these words. “She has no dreams”. I been to question, why? Why is it that I grew up in a place where your dreams can become reality? Why is it that these people were placed here, where society looks at them as being less than a dog? Why is it that these people are deemed as “untouchables”? My heart aches for this 15 year old girl. As well as the many other children in these villages across India.
My hope and prayer is that even though we are only here for a short time, that these children will remember the love of Christ that we shared with them and they will in turn shed the light of Jesus in the darkness they are surrounded by. Myself as well as my team has been struggling with the fact that our ministry sends us to a different village daily. It is our prayer that the villages for a community and build relationships amongst each other.
Please join me in praying for the people of India.
This is Gongothri – age 15. So thankful to have been able to have a conversation with her and to have been able to pray with her.
