Arrival in Cambodia

We pulled up to one of the hardest borders in the world to navigate through the red tape. 43 Americans crossed sans glitch or hiccup. Divinely we entered the kingdom of Cambodia. With us we carried the kingdom of heaven. Good thing they didn’t find that in my bag upon entry.

Onward to Seam Reap, cambodia’s main tourist attraction and home to Angkor Wat, which once upon a time belonged on the list of the worlds 7 wonders.

We arrived at Angkor Wat at dawn. Streams of pink were swirling throughout the sky around stone pillars detail-less in the dim light. The giant temple loomed in the background, an ominous piece of the Buddhist landscape all around us. We spent the remainder of the day poking around the ancient ruins and soaking in the sun.

Then is was onward to the capital, Phenom Penh. There we learned about Cambodia’s history and did a bit of site seeing before heading out to our ministry.

Our ministry this month was truly to minister to the missionaries. Every contact we had this month was between the ages of 21 and 29. All were male. Kind of ironic for our team of 6 women. On top of teaching English classes in the community we spent our days pouring into our contacts. In he end hey would minister more to us hey we did to them. All these men were true examples to be men of god. They are the meek who will inherit the earth…. Starting with Cambodia.

6 “undignified” women. 5 Cambodian men. 200 children. A single community on fire for Christ’s love. Does life get much better than that? Oh yeah… I was also fulfilling my childhood fantasy of living in a tree house.
