Quick Update: We've had ANOTHER team change! I mean, not that we didn't know some kind of change was coming, since after Romania we were down to four girls and one guy on team Holy F.I.R.E. But then at the end of Ukraine, Abby also decided her time on the Race had come to a close. She got offered a position teaching English in China, which is what she did for two years before she came on the Race, for two months beginning at the end of June; Abby loves China and her students so much, so while I was definitely sad to see her go, I'm so excited for her to return to where she feels most at home.
So, going into debrief team Holy F.I.R.E. dwindled at only four members. Obviously we had all done a fair bit of thinking and wondering about what might happen, but we couldn't know for sure. If you're really observant, you've already seen my new team on my side bar, but if not…
I would like to introduce you to Team Catalizador!
Ryan Graydon-our new leader!
And myself of course (:
Catalizador is Spanish for "Catalyst": Spanish because our three months as a team are in Central America and "catalyst", which means "a person or thing that precipitates an event or change" because that's exactly what we want to be. At our first team meeting, we all discussed what we wanted out of the next three months and what we were going to do to obtain that goal and saw the common thread that led to our name-we all want to be the vessels through which the Lord brings change in these three countries, the people we meet, our squad mates, and ourselves.
Team changes are always hard, but especially after having been with a team for so long and especially being this close to the end of the Race. So PLEASE pray hard and fervently for us as we begin the last leg of this journey together!
