This video is our newest glimpse into the purpose of the Race and what life looks like while on the field.
It’s inspiring. It’s adventurous. It’s full of God’s love being shown and revealed around the world.
It’s a part of my story and it could be for you as well.
I have been working for Adventures in Missions for the past year and a half in Gainesville, GA. My life is not nearly as glamorous looking now as it sounded like when I was on the overseas mission field, but videos like this still get me excited and inspired because what I get to do for a living is facilitate getting other 21 to 35 year olds to experience a life-changing journey with the Lord.
To spread the gospel. To love others. To learn to love themselves and accept God’s incredible grace. To understand that striving isn’t the answer because sometimes God does more in a smile than in a million words.
I have to admit it took me a while to be okay working in an office in America every day. Every couple months or so I would get a bad case of wanderlust, especially working with some jet setters flying out to meet with people on field in places like South Africa & Nepal. But God has brought me to a beautiful place of contentment and humility in the past few weeks. It’s okay that I’m not overseas – that’s not where He’s called me right now. It’s okay that my paycheck is small. It’s hard, but it’s okay that I live 12 hours from some of my best friends and family. It’s okay that Mexican food isn’t nearly as delicious as here as it is in Texas. Because what God has brought me to in Georgia is pretty awesome and He’s taught me so, so much through it. And it’s awesome that I get to work with some amazing people that challenge me to trust Him more.
Sometimes it’s hard to explain how phone calls and emails and answering the same questions for each new person is still “being a missionary” and requires depending on God to bring in financial support even to myself.
But it is. What I do is lead people into the World Race. I encourage them. I pray with them. I ease some fears by being able to admit that I was scared too. I make sure they get all their documents together so they are adequately prepared for where God is sending them.
I am a part of something so much bigger than myself. And you are too. That’s one the most fascinating things about being one of God’s children. He places us each in our own area to fulfill our part of the bigger picture, His bigger picture, and the beauty in that is there is no role more important then the other. God’s pretty smart and I think He planned it that way on purpose. We each need one another to make it all work and He uses each of us uniquely for His purpose. Thank you, Lord, for that truth!
