There are many ways to support me through this experience. One is through PRAYER. Please pray for me and my teammates as we prepare for this trip. Pray that our hearts would be open and ready to listen and obey. Pray for each of us in our fundraising efforts. We are all coming from different places and situations, and just pray that we would have the faith to trust in God to meet our needs.
The other way to support me is financially, and there are some things you should know. Adventures in Missions (AIM) offers four convenient ways for donors to support me financially. Here is a brief description of each as well as the pros and cons of all 4 options.
Credit and debit card donations can be made easily online. Just go to www.theworldrace.org, and click on the “Donate” link on the main page. There you can indicate that you want to “Support a racer” and enter my first and last name. You can choose a one-time donation OR an automatic bank draft. PROS: quick, easy, no-brainer; CONS: A 5% fee will be deducted from your donation amount to cover the cost of online giving
Bank draft can be set up if you are pledging a monthly gift. This can also be done using the “Donate” link on the World Race website. Simply indicate “bank draft” instead of “credit/debit” when asked. PROS: still quick and easy, a no-brainer; CONS: A 3% processing fee will be deducted from the amount of each donation, but it is better than 5%!
DynaPay offers the best of both worlds but may not be as convenient. DynaPay allows you to make payments via automatic bank draft without having to pay any fees. To use DynaPay, you must contact me about a form, fill it out, and mail it to AIM with a void check. PROS: There are no fees associated with this system. CONS: You must contact AIM when you wish for your donation to end.
A check is the BEST way to donate, because 100% of your donation goes to my support, unlike the online donations and bank draft. I know it takes a little extra effort to mail a check, but this really is the best way. Here’s how:
- Make your check out to Adventures in Missions.
- Print out my SUPPORT CARD.
- Mail your check to AIM:

4. SMILE! Your gift will reach the ends of the Earth!!
Commonly-Asked Questions
Question: Is my donation tax deductible?
Answer: It most certainly can be, but it has to go to the right place. Donations made directly to me (i.e. you hand me cash or write a check to me) are not tax deductible. Donations made to Adventures in Missions (i.e. you donate online through this blog or write and mail a check to AIM) ARE tax deductible. You will receive a receipt by mail for your donation.
Question: Where does my donation go?
Answer: Whether you make a donation through AIM or directly to me, 100% of your donation goes into my support account, unless you specify that your donation goes to cover an out-of-pocket expense, like my insurance, medical expenses, etc. The funds in my support account are used by AIM to cover necessary expenses on the field, such as food, lodging, transportation, ministry expenses, etc, as well as to cover administrative costs of running the organization, recruiting, and program development.
Question: Can I make a monthly pledge?
Answer: Absolutely! When you print your support card, indicate that you would like to make a monthly pledge. You can also choose the bank draft method (see above). Most people choose to pledge a certain amount for 11 months, the length of time I will be on the field, but it is up to you.
Question: What happens if you raise more than $14,300?
Answer: I never thought that would even be a question, but I can’t believe how close I am to being fully funded, and it’s only December! If I raise more than the $14,300 necessary to complete the World Race, AIM will reimburse me for some personal expenses (insurance, travel to launch and departure, etc.). So raising more money than needed is a good thing and it won’t disappear!
