I realized now that I’m home off the World Race that I really didn’t blog while in Malawi.  So here I am doing some processing and just feeling all mushy gushy inside Thankful for what God has done this past year.  It was an absolute privilege to spend my birthday in a Malawian orphanage.

The orphanage was simple…I didn’t see beds so my guess is that the 100+ kiddos sleep on mats on the floor.  The elderly widowed Christian woman taking care of them blew me away…such boldness, such faith.  We taught the kiddos some songs…the kiddos sang and recited poetry…and the woman danced and sang for us.  The woman…such warriors!

And as I sat there my eyes tearing up and trying to play it cool I thought to myself…THIS…this is what birthdays are supposed to look like.  Who needs cake, candles, or gifts?  This was the greatest gift I could have seen / been given.

So today I want to challenge you to look around and be thankful for the little things in life.  Make a wish with imaginary candles and trust God to do BIG things in and through you.

Be Blessed!
