To speak or not to speak? What is my flesh saying? What is my spirit saying? What is my Father asking of me?

Something I feel like the world has gotten completely wrong is not openly communicating the things others do that frustrate, annoy, (any other non-desirable emotion) us. Let me tell you straight up, it is hard. It is not fun. Let me be the first to tell you open communication is needed! Has there ever been a time when someone has frustrated you and you not saying anything benefitted you? Now now I am not giving you freedom to speak out of your flesh because that is where the fault lies. ( so you ask me how do I respond? What is the appropriate amount of "wait time" before responding?) Hold on because here comes the mind blower: a nice word known as discernment. Any thought you have of stopping and not reading any further; stick with me, there is more good truth to come.

True community is observant of the good and bad and willingly discuss both. True community is people who don't shy away from telling you something constructive because ultimately that makes you a better person. True community to me is people who die to their flesh and operate solely in the spirit. True community fights out of the spirit because they know they are fighting from a place of rest and peace; not their flesh because flesh grows weary. True community is something everyone wants, but only those who are vulnerable in their weaknesses obtain.

I will be the first to admit I am still figuring this out. So back to this word discernment. If there were a four step solution it would be next, but there isn't one. This is where the meat and potatoes come…..

flesh vs. spirit

Flesh quiets your voice
Spirit speaks in boldness
Flesh rejects the truth
Spirit processes what is said
Flesh desires worldly things
Spirit desires eternal things
Flesh is consumed by the enemy
Spirit is consumed by the Father
Flesh thinks selfishly
Spirit thinks Kingdom thoughts

What do you choose flesh or spirit?
