My life thus far in Honduras has been breath-taking. I fall asleep to the sounds of honking horns and dogs barking. I wake up every morning surrounded by mountain ranges as far as the eye can see and a chilled air. Every afternoon is started with rain. I absolutely love it! We are staying at Ministerio Puerta de Sion in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The ministry reaches out to boys and girls who are trying to get out of alcohol and drug abuse and gangs. The ministry currently houses 9 boys and 2 girls. The ages range from about 12-21. We as a squad have come to love on these teens. Monday through Wednesday our squad is divided around the property as teams and have specific tasks. My team's area is the front garden by the rock wall. The garden needs lots of work, but we have done a lot of weeding and rock moving. Thursday we go as a squad to INHFA which is an all girl's school. INHFA is a school for girls ranging from troubled pasts to girls with disabilities. While we are there we have 3 people from our squad share their testimony, sing worship songs, and do various arts and crafts. On Friday, we as a squad go to the city in hopes of bringing light to the darkness that surrounds a Friday afternoon after a long work week. While there we will dance, sing, and just be joyous in the Lord. On Saturday, our squad goes to the colonies and evangelize in many ways. Sundays are our free days. These first two weeks in Honduras have already richly blessed me. I have loved having the freedom to serve the town of Tegucigalpa in many different ways. Honduras is not what I imagined, it is so much more.
